A Speyside Single Malt Scotch whisky distillery established in 1898 in Elgin — the unofficial capital of Speyside whisky country — and one of the most dramatically transformed distilleries in Scotland following its acquisition in 2004 by a management buyout led by former Burn Stewart master blender Billy Walker, who subsequently sold it to Brown-Forman in 2016. Under Walker's stewardship, BenRiach was transformed from a little-known blending component into one of the most exciting and innovative single malt brands in Scotland, celebrated for an extraordinary range of expressions exploring different peating levels, cask types, and production methods — including peated, heavily peated, triple distilled, and a vast array of single cask expressions matured in everything from Bourbon and Sherry to Port, Marsala, and Virgin Oak.
